I will be playing as XETB at the Small Music Theatre, Athens on the 18th of April as part of their season of folk influenced bands leading up to Current 93 in June. For more information, see this announcement. The set will draw inspiration from the medieval mystic Richard Rolle. There will also be a limited-run CDr available entitled "Stella & Astrophel".

The Neon Death Slittes & Birds of Delay Split on Memoirs of an Aesthete is now available at Boa Melody Bar, Volcanic Tongue and Second Layer. See the distributor pages for the hype!

Also released by Memoirs of an Aesthete this month is a disc of improvised drone and clatter by Churinga Canaries, a one-off quartet of Phil Todd, Alex Neilson, Tirath Singh Nirmala and myself. Available from the above folks too.

Remaining with Phil Todd related projects I contribute some guitar and flute (somewhere...) to two tracks on the forthcoming Ashtray Navigations lp on Freenoise, released April 15th. Other recent Ashtray Navs releases that I've had some involvement in are Chronique du Nord and the Paris recording on Exotic Toilet Tour. Copies should be floating around at the above mentioned places too...

Finally, on the subject of collaborations, some recordings made one winter night in Rendlesham Forest with English Heretic have surfaced on part of their 2006 Annual. Go here and click 'News & Events', then Imbolc Newsletter for more information.

A couple of tangentally related items. A new Ashtray Navigations cdr entitled "Sky Whine" has recently been released by Memoirs of An Aesthete. Gayle at Boa Melody Bar has a better description than I could give:
Another gem from AN - the opener of ringing e-bow guitar tones and bells is sublime; track 2 an unholy Sunroof!-like alliance of synth glissandos, wahwah and fuzz guitar lines and the last one, bursts of flute over a seething morass, features Phil Legard of Xenis Emputae Travelling Band.

On a related note, I'll be joining Ashtray Navigations, along with Phil Todd and Mel Delaney on the 20th of January, at Instants Chavirés, Paris, along with Mick Flower & Chris Corsano and Fred Nipi. Come and say 'hi'! :)

Happy new year!

Xenis Emputae Travelling Band's Goat Willow is now available from Barl Fire Recordings. A 3" cdr, limited to 100 copies, inspired by the Devonshire saying "Ellum do grieve, oak he do hate, willow do walk if you travel late".

An interview originally for the Dutch webzine Storing is now available in English as part of the Perhaps Transparent webzine. More news soon!

The Unbroken Circle has a short feature on Larkfall/XETB, which includes an mp3 jukebox of tracks from almost every release thus far, and a hidden track from the forthcoming A Prism for Annwn...

'Song from a Wasted Orchard' appears on the new Digitalis Industries compilation, Gold Leaf Branches. It's a triple cd, 56 different artists including Hala Strana, The Gray Field Recordings, Silvester Anfang, Timothy Revelator, The Magickal Folk of the Faraway Tree, and more.

A strange 3" cdr of 'unplugged' XETB music, entitled Goat Willow will be released by Barl Fire before Christmas. Two other releases have been completed for release in the near future - Heard Gripe Hrusan & A Prism for Annwn.
